Just Ryan and Robin were available for an early season visit to another new venue to us, Froggatt Edge. After the longer than expected walk in, Ryan chose Terrace Crack HS4b as the first climb.
The climb was more testing than expected and after numerous jams Ryan made it to the top.

We then moved onto the climb Right Flake Climb HS4b and it was Robin's turn to lead. The climb was a short off width chimney, the description being 'harder than it looked'. It certainly proved entertaining and after jamming various parts of the body in Robin made it to the top. Ryan followed but found that the off width was more 'Robin size' than 'Ryan size' and he was spat out a couple of times. After various scrapes on hands and ankles Ryan topped out.
Lunch followed while we waited for the climb Hawks Nest Crack VS4c to become available. The previous pair of climbers made it look deceptively easy so Ryan was keen to do his first Joe Brown route.
The climb took some starting and never really eased up until the final few moves to the top, Ryan doggedly continued with determination and the odd panic hand jam which held. Robin followed but didn't manage it cleanly popping off at least once.
Ryan is pictured above showing the climb and in the future he will treat any Joe Brown route with the respect it deserves.
By the time we had both struggled up the climb we decided that we would call it a day climbing but go and check out the climbs at Burbage South for future reference.
Ryan said it was only a short walk in and we'd check out the trad routes and then he would show me the boulders he'd done recently. Well it was a Ryan short walk, a hour or more later we headed back to the car via the pub for a quick pint.
