Only Mike and myself at first for this climb, and we chose Heptonstall crag as it was close enough for Chris to join us later on

Starting at the far right hand end of the Right-Hand outcrop, Mike started by leading Badge Climb (HVD 4a).  This was a little different as when Mike topped out to find a crack he really didn't want to place gear in - there was a chap sunbathing in the nude!!  Despite Mike's loud calls down to me of 'just setting up', 'safe', 'on-belay' and the like, the man initially didn't notice that he had company due to the headphones he was wearing.  Thankfully by the time I topped out all had been covered up - so that mental image is a special one Mike can keep to himself ;-)

Main Buttress Left (M - Stuart lead), Left in 't' @ tick (HS 4b - Mike lead) and Main Buttress (HD 3b - Stuart lead)  followed quickly.

Mike started on the left hand side of Main Buttress which looking later at Yorkshire Gritstone might have been MBRA (HVS 5a).  However it was not to be and the attempt changed to be a slightly easier escape to the left and Mike achieved a first ascent of the yet-to-be-named route

I then lead Obvious Arete (S 4b) and as I was setting up the belay Chris arrived through the trees.  Mike seconded and Chris followed.

Nearing 9pm, Mike needed to leave, so Chris lead Coat of Arms Chimney (D).

After I topped out I thought there was just enough light to fit in 1 more climb.  I chose Heather Wall (VS 4c) and made it to the top in fading light.  After the belay was setup Chris found it difficult to see the holds so wisely abandoned the attempt.  I abseiled down to collect the gear and we quickly threw everything into our packs and headed back the car park before it got fully dark

A good nights climbing, but as we're past the longest day and evenings getting shorter, we need to remember to take head torches - or call it a day sooner! :D
