Another Thursday off and despite the weather forecast a trip to the Roaches was planned for the Trad Dad's.

The conditions were dry once we arrived and apart from a short light shower midway through the day the rain forecast never arrived.

We headed for the Upper Tier even though it was all very quiet.

It was Ryan's lead first and Rotunda Buttress VS-4c was the choice.

We then moved to the Black and Tans area, with Robin leading the single pitch Black Velvet - S 4a - about 30m.

Stuart's lead next and we moved to Maud's Garden - HVD 3c to do a straight forward multi-pitch with the three of us, with Stuart leading both pitches.

The next climb was Ryan's lead and he was keen to tick of the 'Classic Rock' bold climb of Technical Slab - HS 4a.

After a brief rain shower which never really wet the rock, it was Robin's lead.

Damascus Crack - HS 4b was chosen, what looked like a straight forward short climb with perhaps a slightly tricky bit in the middle.

Lots of gear was placed, mostly nuts but with the odd cam. The tricky bit required hand jams ( thumb down ) to pass and a green cam was placed shortly after rather quickly. Robin eventually struggled past and got to the top. We were unsure quite where the VS 4b top out was, but the bits we looked at had no gear so that was dismissed.

By the time we got back down it was decided it was too late for another climb, so we headed to the Lamb Inn for a meal and refreshments in a rather grand setting, having the room to ourselves !
